Forces Help To Buy is available to serving personnel, since their launch of the pilot scheme in 2014, which was to end in Dec 2022, until now, they've made it permanent., A real benefit to all military personnel with more than 12 months of service and able to buy their own home including a Self-Build. With that being said, the Government states approx 5000 serving personnel will use the scheme each year.
Borrow up to 50% of your salary, Interest-Free
You can borrow up to 50% of your salary, with a cap limit of £25,000 payable over 10yrs, interest-Free. If you are married/in a relationship with a military serving personnel, they too are able to apply (and to meet the lender's criteria). You won't get this benefit from your standard conventional employer. This can be used towards:

How long do I have to be in service to qualify?
A minimum of 12 months of service is required, and more than 6 months remaining until the end of your service.
Can you tell me if the Forces Help To Buy Interest-Free?
Absolutely. You have 10yrs interest free to pay back what you borrowed.
Are there any other associated costs when taking out the FHTB?
Yes - you will have to pay a small monthly insurance policy via FHTB, usually less than £10 per month, this depends on the amount you are borrowing.
How to apply for FHTB?
You apply via your 'Joint Personnel Administration' by clicking here: Defence Gateway Advice is available through your Chain of Command and Personnel Agency. You will need to repay the loan before you can leave the service.
Can you tell me if the FHTB is for senior members only?
This is available to ALL military personnel with a minimum of 12 months of service, and more than 6 months until the end of your service.
